GitHub

Connecting GitHub lets StratoNext list the repositories your organization can see, read-only. Today, the connection itself does not give an agent access to code. Instead, an agent can use the repository list to know what exists, then use its own credentials to fetch code when a task actually needs it.

  • Repository metadata: names, visibility, default branch, and similar details, read-only.

StratoNext never requests write access to your repositories, and it does not use webhooks. It cannot push commits, open pull requests, or change anything in GitHub on your behalf.

GitHub is connected once, for the whole StratoNext organization, by an organization admin. One GitHub account or organization per StratoNext organization.

  1. Open Admin > Apps and switch GitHub on.
  2. Choose Connect GitHub. You are sent to GitHub to sign in, then to install the StratoNext GitHub App into your personal account or an organization you manage.
  3. Choose whether to grant access to all repositories or select specific ones, then confirm the installation.
  4. GitHub returns you to StratoNext. Pick the installation you just made from the list of your GitHub accounts, and the connection is active.

StratoNext checks that the GitHub account completing the installation actually has access to it, so a connection can only be completed by someone who is authorized on the GitHub side too. An installation already connected to another StratoNext organization is shown but cannot be picked.

Nothing sees the repositories yet. A workspace admin switches GitHub on under the workspace’s Settings > Apps, and from then on that workspace can list and link the installation’s repositories. Every workspace with GitHub enabled sees the same repositories.

You control which repositories StratoNext can see from GitHub’s own installation settings, not from StratoNext. Open Settings > Applications > Installed GitHub Apps on GitHub at any time to add or remove repositories, or to switch between select repositories and all repositories.

  • In a workspace: switch GitHub off under Settings > Apps. That workspace loses access immediately. Its repository links are kept and come back when it is switched on again.
  • For the organization: switch GitHub off under Admin > Apps. Every workspace loses access immediately.
  • Disconnect: choose Disconnect GitHub under Admin > Apps, or uninstall the StratoNext GitHub App from your GitHub settings. Either way the installation is removed on GitHub, access is revoked, and the organization’s repository links are deleted.
